DENVER
Denver, formerly known as Dry Pond, was first settled in the mid-1700s by Scots Irish and Germans from Pennsylvania. For most of its history, it was a farming community, with some residents also working in the textile mills. When Lake Norman was formed, it turned this small town on the lake’s west side into a bustling bedroom community for Charlotte.
RECREATION
Beatty’s Ford Park offers disc golf, walking trail, volleyball court, horseshoe pits, splash park, playgrounds and amphitheater. Rock Springs Nature Preserve has a picnic shelter, a large children’s play area with multiple apparatuses, a partially paved .4 mile trail, an amphitheater, and an outdoor classroom. And East Lincoln Park has two softball fields, a multi-purpose field, horseshoe pits and a picnic shelter.
CULTURE
The nearby Lincoln Cultural Center is home to The Arts Council of Lincoln County, Lincoln County Historical Association, Lincoln Community Concert Association, Lincoln Theatre Guild and Jacob Forney Chapter of the DAR. Residents can take guitar, piano and voice lessons as well as attend special performances.
