What is your New Year’s Resolution?
New Year’s Resolutions have been around since the ancient Babylonians over 4,000 years ago. They were also the first ones that were recorded to celebrate the new year. For early Christians the first day of the year for reflecting on past mistakes and resolving to not make the same mistakes, being a better person overall. In 1740, John Wesley (founder of Methodism) created the Covenant Renewal Service that was held on either New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. Despite the religious background, people now make resolutions to themselves and to purely work on improving themselves. According to research from Statistics Brain, about 45% of Americans make resolutions and only 8% actually follow through and are successful. Here are the Top Resolutions:

- Save more and spend less
- Learn a new skill or hobby
- Quit smoking
- Read more
- Find a new job
- Drink less alcohol
