Saturday, Oct. 7, Truist Field in Uptown is turning into a patch with thousands of pumpkins for sale. It’s also the ballpark’s first Mecklenburg Oktoberfest — expect German beers and brats, live music, farmers’ market vendors and more.

Location: Trust Field (324 S Mint St.)

Hours: 11am (until they sell out).

Price: $10 for small; $20 for large.

  • The event is free. All pumpkins are first come, first served.
  • A portion of each pumpkin purchase will benefit Charlotte Knights Charities Foundation.

Hodges Family Farm

Located in east Charlotte, Hodges is a short drive for those looking to stay in the city. In addition to a pumpkin patch, visitors can expect hay bales for climbing, barn animals, photo ops, picnic areas, hayrides (for a fee) and treats like kettle corn and funnel cakes available for purchase.

Fall season 2023: Saturday, Sept. 23 through Tuesday, Oct. 31. Of note: Hayrides are only available Saturdays and Sundays.

Location: 3780 Rocky River Road

Hours: 9am-5:30pm, 7 days a week.

Cost: Admission is free, but parking is $5 per car on Saturday and Sunday.

Carrigan Farms

This Mooresville family farm has U-pick pumpkins by day, and transforms into a haunted attraction called Scarrigan Farms by night. Apple cider donuts and apple cider slushies are available from the food truck Saturday-Sunday.

Fall season 2023: Starts Saturday, Sept. 30.

Location: 1261 Oak Ridge Farm Highway, Mooresville, NC

Hours: 10am-3pm, seven days a week.

Cost: Reservations are required for $15 per person ($5 online deposit; $10 at the door). Price includes a pumpkin from the patch.

Bonus: Each trip to the pumpkin patch includes a hayride to the petting zoo and pumpkin field, per the farm.

Lineberger’s Maple Springs Farm

Thirty minutes from Uptown, the family-owned Dallas farm celebrates fall with a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, wagon rides, chick feeding, plus 100 varieties of pumpkins and an array of treats in its market.

Fall season 2023: Starts Saturday, Sept. 9.

Location: 906 Dallas Stanley Highway, Dallas, NC

Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-6:30pm, Saturday 9am-6pm, Sunday noon-6pm.

Cost: Admission is free. Heirloom pumpkins are 75 cents per pound. Carving pumpkins are 99 cents per pound.

  • Wagon rides are $7 (includes a pumpkin, gourd or squash from the patch). They’ll run only on weekends in September and every day in October.
  • There’s also a free kids area, including tire mountains, a sandbox, slides, swings and more.
