Enjoying Father’s Day In Lake Norman!

Father’s Day is right around the corner, but have you found the perfect outing or gift for Dad? While you could go and spend a lot of money to show your appreciation, more than likely, Dad just wants to spend time with you. With that being said, Lake Norman has plenty to offer for things to do with Dad to make his day extra special!


No matter how you’re going to spend the way with dad, starting the day with a great meal is always the way to go. The Fresh Egg has an amazing brunch menu and they are famous for their Reuben Sandwich. They offer bounds of different dishes, enough to make Dad and the rest of the family’s belly’s full. If Dad doesn’t want a big breakfast, everybody needs the daily boost that only a great cup of coffee can give. Summit Coffee Roastery is a local coffee shop that goes high and above the quality of chain companies like Starbucks. Go in a grab yourself a customized, hand-made drinks, sit down and sip the wonderful flavors. Summit Coffee also offers food items if Dad decides that he in fact does want something to eat. If Dad is not a fan of crowded restaurants, maybe just set up a nice breakfast picnic in one of the many amazing parks around the lake.

If your Dad loves the outdoors, Lake Norman has plenty of outdoor activities to make his day full. If he prefers land based activities, there are nature trails for hiking and biking all around the Lake Norman area.

While land activities are fun, why be in Lake Norman if you’re not going to be on the lake? There are many fun lake activities that are fun for the whole family, and most importantly, Dad. Carolina Boat Rentals is the place to go if what your looking for is a pontoon, sailboat, powerboat, or wave runner. They also offer guided boat tours if you are unfamiliar with the lake. If high speed fun is not all your speed, trying something more calm and relaxing and rent some kayaks, paddle-boards, or canoes from Long Island Paddle Sports. Whichever you choice, Dad will have a great time!

There are also plenty of places to fish around the Lake Norman Area, so don’t forget your rod and tackle when you head out on the lake. All of these choices would put a huge smile across Dad’s face.


If Dad is a big golf fan, there are plenty of golf courses around the area bound to give Dad a long day of fun getting outside and hitting off the tee. Birkdale Golf Club offers an 18-hole public golf course, designed by Arnold Palmer himself. It is just a daily-fee so you and Dad can just go for the day. There is also a driving range if you and Dad just want to hit some around without committing to a full game. If you and Dad get hungry after a game, Arnies Tavern right on the club grounds offers a large menu full of meals and drinks where anyone can find something to sink their teeth into and enjoy. Along with Birkdale Golf Club, there is Skybrook Golf Club that offers similar amenities as well as its own Skytop Grill for when you and Dad get hungry. There are more golf courses in the area so just pick whichever one Dad would love.

Dad may be a big baseball fan, and Charlotte has just what he may be looking for. Drop by Charlottes own Truist Field and watch the Charlotte Knights take on the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimps. The game starts at 5:05 pm with there being a kids race around the bases immediately following the game. Enjoy a ball game with Dad and the whole family, while munching on some stadium food for a Father’s Day to remember.
